@Marthy en JoostB: thanks for your reactions and tests! Microsoft informed me that KB931125 removes certificates (12) and (13) only from the "Third Party Root Certification Authorities" certificate store (provided that one or both of them are present in that location). I can confirm this: I installed certificate (12) in every possible certificate substore (except Untrusted Certificates) and executed "updroots.exe -d delroots.sst" (these files are included in KB931125). This removed the applicable certificate only from the "Third Party Root Certification Authorities" store. So KB931125 is only helpful if software, provided by organizations such as ZorgTTP, have placed DigiNotar certificates (12) and/or (13) in the store mentioned. I have asked Microsoft one final question:is my conclusion correct that Microsoft will *not* provide a patch that places copies of both historic DigiNotar certificates in the "Untrusted Certificates" store, regardless whether this decision implies a risk for Microsoft ...
