If you donate through Thunderbird on Android (inside the app), that mechanism passes through the Google Play Store as that's a limitation and requirement from Google in order to accept payments through the app. If you are concerned about a connection with Google, you can donate on our website. As far as Thunderbird, if a user has a Google account, we connect to the IMAP server (and addressbook and calendar if the user wants), but that's it. If the user doesn't have a Google account, we never ever ever ping Google for anything. Either way, we never collect data about Google or share it with Google. I hope that this information helps!
